Designer

In the quiet whispers of the morning light, where dreams of elegance and comfort intertwine, Alex Hanna crafts more than just homewares—she curates an experience. As the Founder and Designer of Hanna Hygge, Alex brings a touch of Nordic serenity to the heart of Australia, weaving the essence of Hygge into every thread. With a background steeped in the artistry of sales and design, Alex's journey began amidst the iconic textures of Stylecraft, Cult Design, and Calvin Klein. Her path, though richly adorned with the world's finest fabrics, led her to a more personal canvas—the home. In early 2020, inspired by the gentle philosophy of “The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well,” Alex envisioned a uniquely Australian embrace of comfort and warmth. From this vision sprang Hanna Hygge, a testament to her belief in "slow luxury"—where purity of design meets enduring beauty. Each piece is more than a product; it’s a poetic ode to the art of living well, where every fibre tells a story of timeless grace. In Alex Hanna’s hands, the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and the everyday becomes a haven of peace. Her designs are not just seen but felt, an invitation to experience the profound joy of a well-lived home.

Impact

Sustainability is a key pillar informing the design and is paramount to the brand. Chosen for their quality and provenance, Hanna Hygge sees the coming together of environmentally conscious manufacturers from some of the finest production regions in the world, including Sri Lanka, Portugal and Australia. These carefully selected manufacturers have contributed to Hanna Hygge’s success and – coupled with limited-run production, where quality-first homeware essentials are front and centre – ultimately offers consumers a serious point of difference in an otherwise semi-saturated market. Hanna Hygge’s limited-run production model also allows the business to thrive in areas of product control, quality and design that ultimately leads to its unique offering to consumers.
