A Night to Remember: Project Project’s MDW25 Launch

Last night, we opened the doors to Project Project for the first time — and what a night it was.

As part of Melbourne Design Week 2025, we welcomed friends, collaborators, designers, and the broader architecture and design community into our new showroom space in Collingwood. Set against the backdrop of Material Futures, our debut exhibition, the night was a celebration of bold ideas, thoughtful design, and the makers shaping what comes next.

A standout moment was seeing the return of a familiar form — the three-legged stool designed by Ben McCarthy, originally shown in prototype form at MDW24. Over the past year, it has been refined and developed into full production in collaboration with Collect.Studio, marking a milestone not just for Ben’s evolving practice, but also for what Project Project represents: realising bold ideas and bringing them into the world.

On display were works from some of the world’s most exciting contemporary designers, including our inaugural Australian collaborations with Ben McCarthy and Marcel Sigel, and pieces by Collect.Studio, Eugeni Quitllet, and more. From playful prototypes to sustainably-minded staples, every object told a story — of form, of materiality, and of a future worth building.

Thank you to everyone who came, connected, and shared the energy with us. Project Project exists to support the brave, the young, and the bold — and last night was a powerful reminder of the creative community we’re so proud to be part of.
